The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was granted the hosting rights for the UTS World Virtual Youth Festival 2021 from Riyadh to the world.
Over 100 international organisations participated in the all-inclusive event, under the patronage of the IOC, IPC, SOI, GAISF and AIMS.
The Opening Ceremony saw the IOC President Thomas Bach deliver an inspiring message to the kingdom congratulating Saudi’s vision 2030, promoting sport for all, inclusion and equality. Further messages were delivered by the IPC President, Andrew Parson, the CEO of SOI, Mary Davis, UTS President, Stephan Fox, GAISF President, Ivo Ferriani and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz,President of the National Olympic Committee.
The workshops and conference sessions attracted over 40,000 participants. The festival has brought 50 speakers together including the 8th UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Noble Peace Prize Winner Professor Yunus, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal President of the Olympic Committee of Jordan and IOC Executive board member.
The sports competitions, Max Fit, Aero Fit Competitions, the IPC Inclusive Challenge, the SOI Unified Fitness Challenge and the popular world Talent Competition inspired everyone. This unique festival exceeded all expectations.
The Closing Ceremony will see the director general and IOC Executive Board Member, Christoph De Kepper, the President of the IPC Andrew Parsons, Mary Davis CEO of SOI, the UTS president Stephan Fox and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz addressing their closing messages to the youth. The world is looking forward to see who will be chosen as the host for 2022.
