Aikido is a Japanese martial art which represents a potent distillation of centuries of Japanese martial arts knowledge. Aikido is more than just a martial art, is a way of self-development. Aikido’s origin was founded by Morihei Ueshiba. It has spread its wings from Japan all over the world as a martial art that focuses on harmonising with your opponent, to bring peaceful resolutions to situations involving conflict.
The current President Moriteru Ueshiba is the head of the Aikido Doshu in Japan and its Chairman, Kei Izawa, is also the Treasurer of AIMS, a valued Council Member and dedicated supporter of UTS.
Aikido is a member of GAISF and the International World Games Association and is truly a sport for all ages and abilities. Today the General Secretary of Aikido, Mr. Wilko Vriesman, will teach us to be in harmony with ourselves. Please enjoy this exercise where we believe that diversity can also lead to harmony.
