Abu Dhabi Welcomes IFMA Athletes To The Emirates

Muaythai under IFMA, the sole recognized International Federation for the art and sport of muaythai gave the honour of their Asian Championships 2019 to the capital city of UAE, Abu Dhabi. The championship ran from 17th-21stDecember bringing 35 Asian countries to participate at the event showcasing the strength of Asia and the continued growth of muaythai.

The esteemed championship brought 183 seniors and 120 youth to the city where Abu Dhabi Sports Council and IFMA’s Tareq Al Muhairi, Championship Director welcomed all delegates on behalf of the UAE Muaythai Federation and its Chairman H.E. Abdullah Al Neyadi. Mr Muhairi stated that every athlete regardless from which Asian country they come from were granted a visa to ensure that all athletes can live their dreams, united through sport.

UTS powered once again with IFMA to deliver a powerful Athletes’ Conference to all athletes and entourage of the championship. As is customary IFMA President Dr Sakchye Tapsuan opened the event giving a warm and informative welcome and where IFMA’s General Secretary Stephan Fox closed the event with a full update on the upcoming events and reminded the athletes about the importance of the Olympic values and implementation into daily life beyond sport. The focus of the conference was sharing core information and education with the athletes including the core topics; Anti-doping, Technical rules, Health and nutrition ensuring the athletes are aware of their rights and responsibilities.

The conference also focused on the emergence and influence of social media with an engaging activity led by UTS CEO Julia govinden which brought all athletes to activate their social media and share their own ethos, values and inspire their followers. With the ever changing times, it is important to keep current and well informed and this conference definitely set the stage for 2020 and opened up new horizons for the IFMA athletes.
